Secretary of State Rex Tillerson commented on today’s incident in Barcelona, Spain, during a joint press conference with Secretary of Defense Mattis and their Japanese counterparts, Foreign Minister Taro Kono and Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera. Secretary Tillerson said, “We offer our condolences to the loss of life and the injuries that have occurred to so many innocent people yet again. We stand ready to assist law enforcement and national security authorities in Spain. The U.S. Consulate General in Barcelona and the U.S. Embassy in Madrid are currently assisting Americans in Spain affected by these events. We ask U.S. citizens in the area to let your loved ones know that you are safe. Terrorists around the world should know that the United States and our allies are resolved to find you and bring you to justice.”
