On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, I joined Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe to sign into effect the Partnership Framework to support Haiti’s Health Strategy between the Government of Haiti (GOH) and the Government of the United States of America (USG). During my three years as Ambassador to Haiti, I have admired the Haitian population’s courage, overcoming enormous difficulties while taking charge of their future, despite facing many challenges. The signing of this Partnership Framework, which promotes mutual accountability and sustainability, is an important milestone that demonstrates Haiti’s political will to begin taking responsibility for the reconstruction and reform of its healthcare system, an issue that is central to its development.
