Happy World Oceans Day! Whether you live on the coast or hours from the closest beach, we all depend on the ocean. It regulates our climate and generates 50% of the oxygen we breathe. The ocean plays a vital role in the global economy by providing food and a source of income for millions of people.
Our oceans are facing significant challenges. Some are well known, like marine pollution, and others are new to us, like ocean acidification. This month, the State Department will host the “Our Ocean” Conference. Experts will share best practices, offer unique perspectives, and demonstrate effective actions. Together, we have the power to protect the oceans.Photo Credit: Dolphin, National Geographic
