During his long Foreign Service career, Ambassador Ryan Crocker served as U.S. Ambassador to #Lebanon, #Kuwait, #Syria, #Pakistan, #Iraq, and #Afghanistan. On December 19, 1998, while serving in Syria, protestors breached the embassy compound walls and damaged portions of his residence. The damage included this commission, which is a document that gives a diplomat the authority of his or her government to act in a certain official capacity. This artifact and others will reside at the new US Diplomacy Center. Join us on Wednesday at noon ET to watch #SecKerry and five former Secretaries of State give remarks at the groundbreaking for the new center, live at state.gov.
